Deliver specific transactional and/or administrative service to internal and external customers. KEY TASKS 1. Calculate, Record and process business transactions ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and local conventions. 2. Analyse and assess data /information to determine outcomes in relation to the payment and/or collection of financial transactions 3. Perform data input to business support systems to record and comply with assessment outcomes. 4. Inbound and outbound contact, written, telephone, email with customers in response to enquiries and advise on business transaction processes and outcomes. 5. Work to well defined standard business processes to analyse information and perform related complex tasks 6. Ensure documents are processed in accordance with the Council’s retention and destruction policies for both manual and electronic systems e.g. scanning, filing etc. 7. Be proactive in contributing to the achievement of statistical and qualitative performance targets. 8. Assist in the development of the service. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide advice and support to colleagues Provide advice and guidance to customers in relation to business processes and outcomes. Develop constructive working relationships with colleagues and customers Provide and promote a customer focussed service in conjunction with other Council service providers. Financial Responsible for ensuring accuracy of information and payments that impact on budgets or financial controls. Calculating and processing financial transactional data on business support systems Strategic Ensure that business transactions and document management is timely, accurate and in compliance with Council policy and procedures and legislative requirements. Assist with contribution to the development and improvement of business transactions/systems by sharing ideas, identifying problems and offering possible EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Essential Criteria Excellent literacy and numeracy skills. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of transactional processing procedures. Experience of data input entry to business support systems. Knowledge of relevant specialist legislative requirements e.g. council tax, benefits, payroll, procurement etc. Understanding of confidentiality requirements. Experience of working in a customer service or office environment. Demonstrate the ability to analyse information and make an appropriate decision on a course of action. Demonstrate comprehensive IT skills e.g. use of Microsoft Office etc. Able to work to deadlines Desirable Criteria Knowledge and experience of working in local government.
