This is a rare opportunity to join our client, a leading multidisciplinary consultancy, as they expand into Scotland by establishing a new office in Edinburgh. They specialise in landscape architecture, planning and civil engineering and are looking for an experienced Principal Civil Engineer with extensive infrastructure design knowledge to lead a newly formed design team.

Responsibilities
* Lead a number of exciting engineering developments in a design capacity.
* Oversee day‑to‑day running of engineering projects, including budget, resources, schedule and delivery.
* Provide mentoring and support for colleagues’ CPD.
* Manage clients and stakeholders across public and private sectors.
* Prepare, review and submit technical reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments and method statements.
* Adhere to and enforce company policies, procedures and best practice.
* Uphold health and safety standards at all times.
* Contribute to the company’s business development, representing at client meetings and site visits.
Required Skills and Experience
* An initial or higher degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
* Chartered status recognised by a relevant professional body.
* Extensive experience in a design capacity within a UK‑based consultancy.
* Considerable experience with infrastructure (highways and drainage), housing developments and energy projects.
* Experience in drainage network modelling and earthworks.
* Proficient in Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD and similar software.
* Demonstrated ability to write and amend technical reports.
* Prior experience leading projects and people.
* Considerable experience managing client and stakeholder relations.
* Excellent organisation, time‑management, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Full, valid UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Authoring of Flood Risk Assessments.
* Preparation of Transport Assessments.
* Experience in a public‑facing role.
