Job Description
We're looking for an experienced high-voltage substation design engineer to help achieve success on multimillion pound projects ideally within the Midlands.What You'll Be Doing
* Design substations that meet client needs, budgets, and deadlines
* Help with tenders, contracts, and technical drawings
* Work closely with teams and clients to deliver projects smoothly
* Visit sites often and stay connected with the operations team
* Support and train engineers and CAD technicians
* Join design reviews and help improve standards and processes
* Follow safety, quality, and environmental rules (OHSAS 18001, ISO9001, ISO14001)
* Communicate clearly and professionally across all levels
What You'll Bring
* Strong knowledge of National Grid, British Standards, and UK design rules
* Degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
* 5+ years' experience in power transmission and substation design
* Skilled in 2D CAD software (Autodesk preferred)
* Able to quickly learn new engineering software
* Experience with NGET stage 4.4 design and earthing up to 400kV
* Knowledge of related areas: overhead lines, civil design, protection & control, HV cables
* Bonus: MSc, chartership, expert in CDEGS, AutoCAD, and power system tools
