Purpose of the role Reporting directly to the Operations Manager to the lead the sites rail loading process to a 5SLean and Six Sigma operational excellence. Through close collaboration with the Engineering manager and operational teams to increase productivity, product offering and quality whilst reducing operational costs for the sites rail department. Key accountabilities Strategic leadership Provide leadership in driving a 5SLean and Six Sigma methodologies across the rail division. Manage 6-8 direct reports (Rail operations team) using clearly outlined clear objectives, targets and performance measures which are reviewed regularly. Operational and resource planning Develop annual operating plan to standardize on a Lean/Sigma operating practice that can be incorporated into the Aggregates Operating Model for rail operations. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by reviewing loading processes and equipment to identify and implement processes that will reduce cycle times, process variation, defects, lead times and penalty costs. Develop effective relationships that enable the influence of new process technique to be designed for manufacture and support other department members to ensure we are working together to achieve overall business goals Contribute to continuous business process improvement through the adoption of best practice. Business development Actively manage / develop commercial relationships for new and existing customers. Work closely within the Central aggregates operational and commercial team to exploit all commercial opportunities. Support the regions marketing plans to grow demand / market for the premium sales growth Seek opportunities to develop the business including product range, services provided, customer base and use of assets. Financial & Non-Financial accountabilities No of employees responsible for: 6 plus rail operations team Sales revenue: £55m Plus RCO: £6M plus Compliance Reviewing developments in machinery and production techniques that will sustain effective and lasting change. Drive the rail department towards a full standardized 5S system Identify and implement improvement opportunities.
