About the Role
This role drives daily operations to ensure effective service by Building Performance Engineers, addressing operational issues, maintaining consistency, and working with leadership to monitor performance, manage competency, and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and customer service.
Responsibilities
* Lead, monitor, support and develop Building Performance Engineers.
* Recruit, hire and train employees.
* Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
* Manage daily operations to maintain efficiency and meet organisational goals.
* Champion a culture of safety, wellbeing, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Actively contribute to a high‑performing, collaborative team.
* Deputise for the BPE management team as required.
* Comply with legal requirements, industry regulations & company policies relating to health & safety, quality (ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001) & operational risks.
* Conduct regular audits and assessments.
* Support engineers with day‑to‑day operational queries.
* Provide technical support and assistance outside of normal office hours where required.
* Stay up to date with regulatory & technical advancements relevant to the industry and disseminate to stakeholders.
* Ensure teams have necessary technical skills & training.
* Oversee scheduling, resource planning and workforce coverage.
* Monitor KPIs, including completion rates, productivity and resource utilisation.
* Oversee effective execution and timely completion of tasks and projects.
* Offer feedback to improve processes.
* Address customer enquiries & complaints in a timely and professional manner.
* Respond to client needs and escalations while ensuring service excellence.
* Identify opportunities for improved service delivery to contribute to business growth.
About You
* Proven experience in managing field‑based service, compliance or engineering teams.
* Engineering/technical degree, NVQ level 4 or 5 or equivalent industry experience.
* Knowledge of laboratory principles, practices & industry standards including ISO/IEC 17025 & ISO 9001.
* Strong leadership & team building skills.
* Strong problem‑solving & decision‑making abilities.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Customer‑focused mindset.
* Accountability & ability to work independently.
* Attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
