Job summary
The Estates Department provides a comprehensive maintenance, repair, and installation service for the buildings, grounds, engineering services, and associated equipment throughout the Trust.
You must have completed a recognised Mechanical or Building Services apprenticeship and gained extensive experience in building engineering services and plant maintenance, with a BTEC HNC level or City and Guilds qualification plus relevant post-apprenticeship training or equivalent experience.
You must hold a current UK (manual) driving licence and reside within half an hour's travel time to fulfill on-call duties.
The role is Monday to Friday, with participation in an emergency on-call rota, plus opportunities for overtime and weekend working. Please see the attached shift pattern.
Salary - £29,970 - £36,483 pa plus local RRP (£3,277 pa), with an approximate £1,000 pa on-call retainer, overtime, 27 days holiday, and a voluntary pension scheme.
Base Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital

Person Specification
Qualifications
* HNC in Building Services plus specialist training and experience to graduate level, or equivalent gained through a relevant apprenticeship plus additional specialist knowledge and experience gained through specialist training, short courses, and C.P.D.
* Authorized/Responsible and/or Competent Person in one or more of the following specialisms: LV Electrical Systems, HV Electrical Systems, Heating and Ventilation Systems, Decontamination, Safe Water Systems, Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS), Confined Spaces.
Experience
* Extensive knowledge of the mechanical and/or plumbing systems in NHS premises.
* In-depth knowledge of all relevant legislation and technical guidance.
* In-depth knowledge of all relevant Health Technical Memoranda.
* Significant experience working in a complex engineering/building environment.
* Knowledge of electrical systems in NHS premises.
* Skilled in maintenance, fault finding, testing, and repair work on a wide range of complex engineering services and equipment, with the ability to work independently in varying, often technical environments while complying with health and safety/environmental regulations and standards.
Other requirements specific to the role
* Participate in outside-of-normal-hours on-call rota.
* Full UK driving licence.
Language requirement
* Able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role.
