A prestigious life reinsurer is seeking an experienced actuary to lead their Model Risk function in London. This is a high-impact role, offering the opportunity to set the standard for model risk governance across the business. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, model developers, and business teams, providing assurance that models are robust, well-governed and driving meaningful improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead comprehensive model validations across Pricing, Valuation, Capital Planning and Assumption Setting.
* Challenge methodologies and assumptions to identify risks and influence enhancements.
* Present clear, actionable findings to senior leaders, model owners and risk committees.
* Collaborate with technical experts across multiple domains to shape and evolve the Model Risk Management Framework.
* Guide the business on modelling best practice and governance standards.
* Monitor emerging trends, modelling techniques and regulatory developments to inform decision-making.
* Lead and develop a team of model risk professionals.
What You’ll Bring
* FIA or equivalent qualification with strong post-qualified experience.
* Proven expertise in actuarial modelling, model validation or audit.
* In-depth understanding of risk and control frameworks.
* Strong knowledge of multiple reporting bases (e.g. BMA, US GAAP, IFRS 17, Solvency II).
* Ability to influence both senior stakeholders and technical teams effectively.
* Familiarity with tools such as Tyche, SQL, R and Tableau.
* Life (Re)insurance experience in areas such as financial reporting, forecasting or pricing.
