Health and Safety Officer
25 hours per week | Flexible working hours | £17 per hour
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business.
They are now looking to appoint a Health and Safety Officer to manage the site’s full H&S function, working closely with the Operations Director.
This is a genuinely influential role where you’ll help shape safety culture, strengthen compliance, and directly impact the wellbeing of everyone on site.
The Role
You will lead a proactive Health & Safety function, ensuring safe systems of work are understood, embedded and continuously improved across the operation.
You’ll act as the trusted voice for safety on site — supporting leaders, guiding teams, and driving practical improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clear, practical H&S guidance to senior leaders and line managers
* Support HR and Technical teams with safety aspects of internal and external audits
* Develop and implement workplace Health & Safety plans in line with legislation
* Create and embed policies and procedures that promote a consistent safety culture
* Conduct site inspections and drive improvement actions
* Ensure statutory inspections are completed (FLT, lifting equipment, fire systems, racking etc.)
* Lead accident and incident investigations
* Deliver training, inductions and toolbox talks
* Promote near-miss reporting and maintain action logs
* Maintain COSHH data and safe operating procedures
* Develop emergency procedures and fire safety records
* Chair monthly H&S meetings and track KPIs
What We’re Looking For
* NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
* Previous H&S experience in a site-based environment
* Strong communication skills across all levels
* Practical, hands-on approach
* High attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and influence others
