The Quality & Food Safety Manager is a key member of the Coventry Manufacturing site leadership team, responsible for championing and safeguarding all aspects of Quality and Food Safety (QFS). This role owns the site’s QFS framework, oversees the Quality & Food Safety Management System, and ensures full legal compliance as well as adherence to PepsiCo standards.

You will lead the site's Quality and Food Safety agenda, driving a culture where every team member understands and executes their role in delivering exceptional product quality and maintaining the highest standards of food safety. Working in partnership with site leaders, you will embed continuous improvement, strengthen operational discipline, and ensure that QFS KPIs are effectively managed and achieved.


Responsibilities

1. Champion daily Quality and Food Safety performance, collaborating closely with site leadership and operational teams to uphold and elevate standards.
2. Lead investigations into nonconformances, incidents, and consumer complaints, ensuring rigorous rootcause analysis and implementation of robust corrective and preventive actions.
3. Own and manage the site’s QFS KPIs, using a balanced scorecard approach and influencing crossfunctional teams to deliver against Quality and Food Safety objectives.
4. Embed a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to optimize QFS processes and enhance site performance.
5. Stay current on applicable legislation, audit requirements, and compliance obligations, ensuring the site remains fully compliant at all times.
6. Collaborate with the Hub QFS Manager to ensure microbiological testing meets PepsiCo and external audit requirements and that results are effectively reviewed and actioned.
7. Oversee the calibration and maintenance of all quality testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
8. Manage the site’s pest control programme, ensuring effective controls and compliance with relevant standards.
9. Lead site hygiene activities, working with the Operations Manager to maintain worldclass hygiene standards and ensuring all hygiene plans are executed consistently.
10. Manage the ISS contract, maximizing service value and maintaining the highest levels of site cleanliness and hygiene.
11. Own the HACCP and Food Defence for site, ensuring robust risk management and control.
12. Maintain and continually improve the Quality Management System, ensuring documentation is accurate, current, and auditready.
13. Oversee the internal audit programme, ensuring effective preparation, execution, reporting, and followup of all audits.
14. As a Daily management systems owner for Spark (IWS) drive and build capability and engagement behind Spark deployment across the site.

Qualifications

15. Proven experience in Quality and Food Safety, ideally with team leadership.
16. Strong communication, influencing, analytical, and stakeholdermanagement skills.
17. Experience in continuous improvement and use of structured problemsolving tools.
18. Flexible, proactive, and resultsdriven with a positive, “cando” mindset.
19. Effective communicator at all levels with strong IT and presentation skills.
20. Able to prioritise, think strategically, identify trends, and shape longterm plans.
21. Resilient, motivated, and innovative—brings solutions and drives ideas forward.
22. Focused on delivering highquality results while managing risks appropriately.

Desirable Qualifications

25. Food science or equivalent degree (or) demonstrable experience in Quality and Food Safety with the ability to gain a specialist qualification.
26. Deep understanding of the BRC framework and requirements.
27. Extensive working knowledge of HACCP and Food Defense and its application in the food manufacturing sector.
28. Strong analytical and scientific competence demonstrated within a manufacturing environment.
