Hours: 8:30am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Caldicot. You will be working on a one-to-one basis with a Year 8 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing essential learning and behaviour support.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about education, enjoys working with young people, and is keen to make a real difference in a student’s school experience.
Key responsibilities
Provide calm, consistent, and structured support to help the pupil access the curriculum.
Support behaviour management strategies in and out of the classroom.
Encourage social skills development and positive peer relationships.
Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and parents to implement tailored support plans.
Promote independence, resilience, and confidence in both academic and personal development.
What we’re looking for
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to act as a positive role model.
Resilience, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or in a similar child support role.
A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
Requirements
Enhanced Child DBS (registered on the Update Service).
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
Two most recent references.
Right to work in the UK.
Level 2 Safeguarding training (support can be provided if needed).
