HV Data Centre Shift Technician
Location: Slough
Salary: £55,000
Hours: Continental Shift Pattern
Our client is a global data centre services organisation, expanding its presence, seeking multiple shift engineers at a newly built data centre in Slough. The role involves working on a 12-hour continental shift pattern, including days and nights, requiring experienced multi-skilled building services or data centre engineers responsible for routine and reactive maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems in a critical environment. The sites are co-location facilities hosting servers for major organizations, requiring 100% uptime.
The salary guideline is up to £55,000 basic, with opportunities for overtime and training, making this an excellent opportunity to join a leading company in a booming sector.
Duties:
* Operate all M&E systems within the Data Centre efficiently, including HV electrical isolations/operations, and recommend improvements with concise technical reports.
* Ensure all Specialist Sub Contractors conduct works according to approved Standard Operating Procedures.
* Perform daily emergency callout tasks.
* Complete logbooks and RAMS.
* Apply a risk-focused maintenance approach to plant and system operations in data centres/critical environments.
* Ensure critical client services, computer rooms, data networks, manufacturing, and revenue services meet client requirements.
* Provide emergency response standby, escalate urgent issues, and respond to outages or emergencies per SLA.
* Support technical audits related to critical environments as directed by line management.
* Maintain records and logs to demonstrate maintenance delivery.
* Supervise contractors when required.
* Conduct emergency lighting testing.
* Perform electrical work including lighting, wiring, testing, alarm systems, BMS, lighting systems, and heat exchangers.
* Demonstrate knowledge of AHU, FCU, UPS, Generators, LV systems, including fault finding.
* Evaluate and escalate potential risks, assessing impact, causes, and mitigation strategies.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring QHSE compliance.
* Assist the Data Centre Shift Leader in operational delivery of all planned, reactive, corrective, and project works.
Requirements:
* Trade-trained with at least 3 years’ experience in building services.
* City & Guilds Qualified Electrical Level 3.
* Experience in critical sites such as Data Centres or Banking Sites.
* Good knowledge of building services.
* Ability to lead a team under pressure, remaining calm, clear, and efficient to meet client deadlines.
* Willingness to attend on/off-site training, possibly requiring nights away from home.
