The Theatre Support Worker plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures by being a member of a theatre team, providing support and assistance to professionally qualified staff and other team members.
Responsibilities will include participating in patient care, equipment care, infection control, ancillary and clerical duties.
Responsibilities
* Preparing the Theatre: setting up surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring everything is ready for the surgery.
* Patient Care: moving patients on trolleys and preparing patients for anaesthesia.
* Stock Management: ensuring the department has all necessary supplies and managing stock levels.
* Support During Surgery: assisting the surgical team during procedures by providing the necessary instruments and equipment.
* Post‑Surgery Duties: moving patients on trolleys to the ward, cleaning and tidying theatre areas after surgery, disposing of waste, and ensuring a sterile environment.
* Administrative Tasks: checking patients into theatre reception, receiving handovers from ward staff, and preparing patient records.

* Changes to the UK immigration policy introduced on 9 April 2025 increased the minimum salary threshold for certificates of sponsorship applications for Health and Care Worker Visa to £25,000 (£12.82 per hour).
* As per Agenda for Change, if you are new to the NHS the starting salary would be £24,937 (minimum Band 3 salary point from 1 April 2025 in line with National Living Wage requirements). This salary point is below the new minimum threshold, and therefore not eligible for sponsorship.
