Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You will work within a dedicated part of Telent focused on maintaining the UK rail network, serving clients like Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the systems engineer will handle project upgrades mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. You will be responsible for all technical aspects of projects, including survey, design, and technical execution of SISS within a rail environment.
Typical Deliverables
* Experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
* Potentially lead in creating new product or service ideas and drafting plans for new designs.
* Manage projects from initial design through to production and installation.
* Develop detailed technical plans for concepts and ideas.
* Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
* Select appropriate materials for construction or products.
* Provide accurate cost analysis forecasts.
* Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
* Ensure quality control and oversee the deployment of new products/systems.
Responsibilities
* Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines and related areas.
* Coordinate testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
* Ensure project completion within time and budget constraints.
* Continuously develop engineering skills.
* Solve complex problems with innovative perspectives.
* Work independently with minimal guidance.
* Lead projects or project phases, with accountability for ongoing activities.
* Mentor less experienced colleagues.
* Adhere to QEHS standards.
Skill Requirements
* Proven experience in technical SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
* Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
* Proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
* Good understanding of quality, regulatory standards, and processes.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to collaborate effectively and focus on customer needs.
* Problem-solving passion and analytical skills.
