Job Title: Highway Steward
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a key part of the highway maintenance service within Kent County Council, covering the Dartford and Gravesham area, based at our Swanley office.
Responsibilities:
1. Providing a front-line service by dealing with customer reports of faults on the highway network.
2. Investigating faults and arranging maintenance solutions with contractors.
3. Acting as the eyes and ears for the highways service, working closely with Dartford and Gravesham Borough Councils, Parish Councils, and other local groups to deliver high-quality maintenance, ensuring the network is safe and passable.
4. Responding to emergency situations, working alongside emergency services to provide support and engineering measures during incidents such as road collisions, collapses, severe weather events, etc.
A livered KCC vehicle will be provided for inspections.
This role is customer-facing and requires a good command of spoken English/Welsh, as per statutory duties under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). A full UK Driving Licence is also required.
