RESPONSIBILITIES
Wood Process & Energy is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent (Civils) with multi-disciplinary experience and a proven track record in overseeing and coordinating on-site activities, ensuring project scope is completed on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards for a high-profile client.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience in medium and large Construction projects across constructability, construction execution, CDM, development of construction strategies, input to planning and development of construction workpacks.
Overseeing field construction effort to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule and comply with construction standards.
Responsibilities
* Accountable for managing, supervising, organising and coordinating site construction team to provide high quality support in accordance with the Contract
* Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum Constructability
* Participate in HSE activities, promoting HSE elements throughout construction including all CDM duty holder responsibilities, managing SSOW and setting to work processes
* Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project
* Managing and leading construction contractors to ensure delivery against milestones
* Reviewing planned activities for constructability, providing accurate feedback and direction
* Providing technical expertise and guidance on construction related activities
* Performance reporting to site management, ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan
* Monitor and report project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on-site construction
* Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control
* Initiate safety, quality and environmental processes within their area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and the identification, assessment and control of risks in accordance with Wood and client requirements
* Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, site accommodation and other project-specific requirements, in accordance with client/contract specifications and in accordance with applicable Policies & Procedures
* Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues as required
* Utilise Commercial processes to manage change and capture variations effectively
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
* Typically, minimum qualified to ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma) or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
* Vocational Qualification such as NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management an advantage
* A recognised HSE qualification is desirable (IOSH or similar)
Knowledge, skills and experience:
* Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through extensive post-qualification experience in a relevant industry.
* Knowledge of Construction Workpack processes
* Demonstrable experience in the execution of multi disciplined projects in the process and energy sectors or other relevant industries is preferred
* Excellent communications skills
* Strong effective delegation skills
