Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the accounting function by managing a variety of financial tasks and ensuring accurate data entry. This position is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for numbers.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to a friendly, welcoming environment at Home Hardware at all times.
* Process purchase ledger invoices, raise payments and reconcile supplier accounts.
* Process sales ledger invoices, allocate payments and reconcile customer accounts.
* Carry out credit control for customer accounts.
* Reconcile bank accounts.
* Assist in preparing general accounts to trial balance.
* Support the preparation of VAT returns.
* Perform general filing duties daily.
* Handle incoming calls and emails from customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
* Respond to staff and customer queries related to accounts.
Skills Required
* Previous experience in an accounting role, particularly within purchase ledger
* Proficiency in using accounting systems
* Working knowledge of accounts up to trial balance
* Understanding of VAT processes
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Strong time management and organisational abilities.
* Commitment to complying with company Health & Safety policies.
