Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. This role requires a blend of practical skills and emotional intelligence to support clients with diverse needs, including those with Alzheimer's and dementia.
Duties
As a Care Worker, your responsibilities will include:
* Providing personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
* Supporting clients with mobility and physical activities, including heavy lifting when necessary.
* Assisting with meal preparation and ensuring proper nutrition for clients.
* Administering medication as prescribed and monitoring client health conditions.
* Engaging clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
* Implementing behaviour management techniques for clients with challenging behaviours.
* Offering companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
* Maintaining accurate records of client care and progress, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
* Driving clients to appointments or social activities as required.
Skills
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following skills:
* Experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or similar settings.
* Knowledge of patient care practices and principles related to senior care, hospice care, Alzheimer's care, and dementia care.
* Strong caregiving abilities with a focus on empathy and respect for client dignity.
* Proficiency in first aid and emergency response techniques.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively while maintaining a calm demeanour.
* Competence in meal preparation tailored to individual dietary needs.
* Valid driving licence for transporting clients when necessary.
