Interim Financial Controller – 12 - 18 months Location: Teesside
Duration: Initial 12- 18 month contract
Hays are currently working exclusively with an energypany who are seeking a dynamic and experienced Interim Financial Controller to lead the finance function during a critical period of transition and growth. This is a hands-on role with wide-ranging responsibilities across financial reporting, budgeting, tax, and team management.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Lead all month-end reporting and financial reviews and deliver insightfulmentary to senior management.
2. Own the trial balance, balance sheet reconciliations, and capital expenditure analysis.
3. Manage VAT and tax returns, corporation tax accounts, and ensure timely payments.
4. Oversee the transaction team, conducting appraisals and mentoring.
5. Drive the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts.
6. Liaise with external auditors, HMRC, rating consultants, and credit insurers.
7. Act as a business partner to regional managers, supporting operational reporting and driving process improvements.
8. Serve as superuser for Sage and ensure system integrity.
What We’re Looking For
9. Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA).
10. Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
11. High attention to detail and a proactive, deadline-driven mindset.
12. Excellentmunication and leadership abilities.
13. Broad experience in end-to-end financial reporting.
14. Experience in Sage Line 50 is desirable.
