I'm currently recruiting for a highly successful and well respected client in the Civils and Water industry. They are seeking a proven Business Development Manager, one whom has a track record of success in identifying and converting new leads to the business. This Business Development Manager position is a growth-focused role, dedicated to identifying and securing new business opportunities in non-water infrastructure sectors. The primary purpose is to drive market diversification, supporting the company's strategic goal of achieving 30% revenue from non-water services. Key Responsibilities • Market Prospecting: Research and identify new market segments and key decision-makers within the energy, rail, and highways sectors. • Strategic Outreach: Execute proactive outreach via calls, networking, and industry events to build a robust sales pipeline. • Pipeline Management: Utilize CRM software to track leads, maintain accurate records, and ensure consistent follow-up with prospects. • Brand Ambassadorship: Represent Enviromontel Limited at industry conferences to build credibility and brand awareness in new sectors. • Initial Discovery: Conduct introductory meetings to qualify leads and understand client pain points before handing over to the Commercial Director. • Social Media (High-Value, new and current) On going work updates, Regulatory industry updates, Industry innovations, behind the scenes bid wins and project milestones. Benchmarking Factors 1 - Education: High experience in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred. Professional sales training certifications are highly valued. 2 - Proven Ability: Minimum of five years' business development experience water industry or in non-water infrastructure (e.g., Power, Telecoms, or Rail). Demonstrated track record of meeting revenue growth KPIs. 3 - Managerial Responsibility: No direct reports. Acts as an internal specialist by providing market intelligence on new industry sectors. 4 - Accountability: Directly responsible for the growth of the non-water sales pipeline and achieving the 30% diversification target. Authority is limited to lead qualification and relationship initiation. 5 - Independence of Action: Has significant freedom to act in identifying and pursuing new leads. Must provide regular input into the commercial strategy for non-water sectors. 6 - Complexity: Involves complex relationship management and the ability to pivot sales strategies across different infrastructure markets. Requires analytical skill to map out new market landscapes. 7 - Relationships: Extensive external contact with Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors and industry decision-makers. Must maintain high levels of professional influence and persuasion. 8 - Direction: Work is self-generated through prospecting activities and strategic targets set by the Commercial Director. Performance is reviewed monthly against pipeline growth and conversion targets. 9 - Pressure of Work: High requirement for self-motivation and the mental resilience to manage high-volume outreach and sales targets. 10 - Working Environment: Office-based with a hybrid model, though frequent travel to client sites and industry events is required.
