Teaching Assistant – SEMH Alternative Provision (Primary)

We are currently seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist alternative provision in Chichester, supporting primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This setting works with children who have found mainstream education challenging, often due to behavioural or emotional needs. The role requires a nurturing, patient individual who can provide consistency, structure, and positive support throughout the school day.
The Role:
* Support pupils in both classroom and 1:1 settings
* Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, adapted learning activities
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
* Support behaviour management using a calm and consistent approach
* Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have experience working with children (ideally primary age)
* Have experience with SEMH needs or a willingness to learn
* Be patient, nurturing, and resilient
* Be confident managing behaviour and setting clear boundaries
* Have strong communication and teamwork skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
