Interim Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor
Large, Complex Infrastructure Projects
12 Month Contract £500 p/d – Outside IR35
We are seeking an experienced Interim Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor (QS) to support the delivery of large, complex infrastructure projects.
This is a senior interim role, ideal for a commercially astute professional with a proven track record in major highly regulated complex construction and infrastructure programmes.
The Role
You will provide commercial leadership and hands-on QS support across high-value infrastructure construction works, working closely with project, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure robust commercial control throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Leading commercial management on complex infrastructure packages
* Contract administration (NEC / bespoke forms preferred)
* Cost forecasting, reporting, and cashflow management
* Managing variations, compensation events, and change control
* Subcontractor procurement, management, and final accounts
* Risk and opportunity management
* Supporting claims preparation, negotiation, and dispute avoidance
* Providing clear commercial advice to senior stakeholders
About You
* Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor on major infrastructure projects (e.g. transport, utilities, energy, civil engineering)
* Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4)
* Comfortable operating in fast-paced, complex delivery environments
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* Able to work autonomously and add value from day one
* Professional qualification (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent) desirable but not essential
