Healthcare Assistant - Theatres
The Chiltern Hospital (Great Missenden) – 37.5 Hours & Permanent – Salary: £25,000.00 per year
Overview
We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Theatres department. Applicants must be able to travel to the sister site - The Shelburne Hospital in High Wycombe - for dual‑site working. This is a full‑time role for 37.5 hours a week, requiring a flexible shift pattern.
Duties of this role include
* Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
* Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
* Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
* Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
* Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
* Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds and equipment in readiness for patient use.
* Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Applicants should meet the following criteria
* Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
* Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
* Ability to follow instructions and escalation of concerns appropriately.
* Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
* Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
