The organisation is a well-established Managed Service Provider delivering fully managed IT services to UK and international clients on a 24/7/365 basis. It has a strong track record of providing enterprise-grade support, security, and consultancy solutions to mid-sized and growing businesses across sectors including property, retail, financial services, and healthcare.

The IT Support Project Engineer & Systems Engineer will work as part of a dynamic Project Delivery team, responsible for understanding customer requirements, planning and scoping technical solutions, and delivering projects to agreed quality, time, and budget expectations.
Although the organisation standardises on a defined set of solutions, the diversity of its client base requires exposure to a wide range of technologies and vendors. The role offers the opportunity to work across varied technical environments while contributing ideas to improve processes, implement automation, and introduce new solutions that enhance customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a technical resource across the full lifecycle of internal and customer projects, including design, implementation, system acceptance testing, user acceptance testing, documentation, and handover/sign-off.
* Technically approve planned installations, upgrades, and change requests when directed, ensuring appropriate implementation, testing, and contingency plans are in place.
* Ensure that existing systems are not adversely impacted by proposed changes.
* Provide regular project updates to Project Managers and key stakeholders.
* Produce high-quality technical documentation, including design documents, implementation plans, proposals, handover documentation, and training guides.
* Provide technical pre-sales support when required, including the preparation of technical proposals and delivery of technical presentations.
* Review and approve sales proposals from a technical perspective, ensuring alignment with company standards and suitability of proposed solutions.
* Ensure all recommended hardware, software, and communication systems are robust, cost-effective, and fully risk-assessed.
* Identify and propose new technologies for consideration by senior technical leadership.
* Maintain a strong understanding of the organisation’s product and solution roadmap.
* Gain and maintain relevant supplier accreditations as agreed.
* Ensure adherence to the company Change Control process.
* Accurately log all billable time within the company’s PSA system.
* Conduct technical audits of existing or prospective client environments and produce relevant reports and presentations when requested.
* Act as a technical mentor to junior team members, supporting their professional and technical development.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Required:
* Strong experience with virtualisation platforms, particularly VMware (VCP desirable).
* Proven experience migrating workloads to public cloud platforms, including Microsoft 365 and Azure.
* Strong understanding of Microsoft cloud security solutions such as MFA, Intune, security and compliance tools, and email security.
* Broad Microsoft technology stack experience, including Windows Server (2008–2022), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SQL, and server migrations/upgrades.
* Solid networking knowledge, including routing, VPNs, and deployment/migration of networking hardware from multiple vendors.
* Strong experience with backup and disaster recovery technologies, including bare-metal recovery.
* In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365, including email migrations, Intune, Azure Information Protection, Azure AD Join, AD Connect, SharePoint Online, DLP, and MDM.
* Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
* Experience with non-Microsoft cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud).
* Knowledge of remote desktop technologies such as VDI, AVD, Citrix, and Terminal Services.
* Strong storage knowledge, including iSCSI, SAN, and NAS.
* PowerShell scripting experience.
* Networking certifications (e.g. CCNA, Network+).
* Experience with automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, or Salt.
* Knowledge of cloud-based telephony platforms (e.g. Teams, 3CX).
* Working knowledge of Linux environments.
