About The Role In this position, you will support the Senior Test Engineer by carrying out a wide range of product testing activities within the Product Engineering test laboratory. Your responsibilities will include preparing test setups, executing tests in line with agreed specifications, and accurately recording and organising the resulting data. You’ll work closely with engineers to ensure tests are performed safely, consistently, and to a high standard, contributing directly to product validation, quality assurance, and ongoing product development. This role is full time working a flexi system within the Test Department. About The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a practically minded, mechanically capable individual with a strong appreciation for accuracy, safety, and quality in a technical testing environment. They bring a hands‑on engineering or apprenticeship background and are confident setting up, running, and analysing tests with careful attention to detail. Naturally curious and proactive, they use critical thinking to solve problems creatively and are comfortable anticipating upcoming tasks and managing their time effectively. They communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and work well with engineers and colleagues at all levels. Strong numerical ability and solid IT skills—including confident use of Microsoft Office—are essential. Above all, they are a motivated team player with a desire to learn, continually improve, and contribute to a safe, well‑organised, and high‑performing test laboratory. Tasks And Responsibilities Test preparation – organising and inspecting the test sample, organising and documenting the test hardware, setting the test within required parameters. Support of dynamic risk assessments to ensure that test setups are correctly and safely constructed. Proactive identification, resolution and lessons sharing of potentially unsafe conditions. Test monitoring – ensuring that the tests run within expected conditions and that the correct test data is collected. Periodic reviews with the Test and Product Engineers and reporting of any non-conforming conditions. Post-test analysis – disassembly of the test setup and collation of the post-test measurements and data for review with the Test and Product Engineers. 5S in the lab environment – responsible, with the others in the Test Engineering team, for the organisation of the lab environment and ensuring that the right equipment is in place and maintained in a functional condition. Metrology – surface roughness, surface hardness, roundness, runout measurements. Test sample analysis – key measurements pre and post test, and presentation of the change during test. Improvement activities – identification of and supporting information for improvement opportunities to test equipment or methodology in the Test Lab environment. Education And Experience An engineering or practical background is preferred, whether that be a in the form of formal education or a completed apprenticeship scheme. IT proficient in Microsoft Office. Competences Practical, mechanical skills will be necessary. Good time management, including anticipation of future activities. Creative problem solver. Attention to detail and displays critical thinking. Determined and resourceful. Have a thorough understanding of health and safety requirements within the workplace. Strong IT skills, able to use Microsoft office suite, including but not limited to; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (in English). Strong numerical skills. Proactive attitude. Motivated team player. Desire to learn and continuously improve. Additional Skill Requirements Accountable for working with the Test Engineers to test the seals to the desired specification. Recording finished test work results. Basic data analysis and problem-solving skills – initial attempts are made but they are not expected to complete this unaided. Proficient in 3D CAD and can initiate the design of novel testing solutions when required. Project management – acquiring fixtures and fitting for test programmes on time, ensuring testing is carried out in line with the test schedule. Timely completion of results and updates to Test/Design Engineers and discussing test work methodology. Geography To Cover And Travel Requirements Based on site at Bridgwater. Travel as required within the UK. International travel may be required for training and infrequently to visit suppliers or other Trelleborg sites. Must have proof of right to work in the UK.
