Commercial Claims Handler Location: Shrewsbury Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience) Hours: Full-time, permanent Are you an experienced Commercial Claims Handler who enjoys working closely with business clients and guiding them through the claims process from start to finish? We’re recruiting a Commercial Claims Handler to join an established independent insurance broker based in Shrewsbury. As a Commercial Claims Handler, you’ll be looking after a portfolio of SME and mid-market commercial clients, managing their claims, liaising with insurers and ensuring they receive a high level of service and support. This Commercial Claims Handler role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of client contact, technical claims handling and relationship management. The Role – What you’ll be doing as a Commercial Claims Handler * Manage a portfolio of commercial insurance claims, acting as the main point of contact for your clients. * Register, investigate and progress claims across a range of commercial products (e.g. property, liability, motor, fleet). * Gather all relevant information and documentation, liaising with clients, insurers, loss adjusters and other third parties. * Negotiate with insurers to achieve fair and timely claim settlements for your clients. * Keep clients updated regularly by phone and email, explaining next steps and managing expectations. * Maintain accurate claim records and ensure all work is in line with FCA regulations, internal procedures and service standards. * Build strong, long-term relationships with clients based on trust, support and technical knowledge. About You * Experience working as a Commercial Claims Handler, or in a commercial claims role with a broker or insurer. * Knowledge of commercial products such as commercial combined, liability, property, motor, fleet and packages. * Strong communication skills – able to explain the claims process and cover clearly in plain English. * Good attention to detail and comfortable handling claim files, policy documents and client data. * Relationship-focused – you enjoy supporting clients through sometimes difficult situations and building trust over the long term. * Progress towards CII qualifications (or a willingness to study) would be an advantage for a Commercial Claims Handler looking to develop.
