Overview
Understand the landscape of projects in the focus area by working and building relationships with key stakeholders in cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor a team of accessibility subject matter experts, providing technical oversight, career development, and workload prioritization.
* Support your direct reports in their technical reviews of designs, code, and testing methodologies, stepping in for hands-on review when needed.
* Deliver regular progress updates to senior leadership, translating technical accessibility work into business impact and strategic recommendations.
* Partner with product managers and engineering leads to integrate accessibility requirements into roadmaps and planning processes and advocate for accessibility resources and priorities in cross-functional discussions.
* Lead and contribute to internal accessibility initiatives including training program development, awareness events, technical documentation, and cross-functional education that builds organizational capacity.
* Drive execution, governance, and continuous improvement across a focus area, working with cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
* Demonstrable experience in hiring, mentoring, and managing the performance of staff.
* Strong experience in front-end engineering or designing and developing applications in Web, iOS or macOS.
* Understanding of WCAG 2.x guidelines and Apple Human Interface Guidelines.
* Knowledge of accessibility features built into Apple products and other assistive technologies.
* Ability to communicate and influence senior executives and stakeholders using excellent negotiation skills.
* Ability to make hard calls when dealing with complexity, conflicting priorities and aggressive schedules.
* A passion for new technologies and continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications
* Proficiency in web application development using web technologies, including front-end frameworks and accessible implementations.
* Result-oriented and demonstrates the high degree of ownership and accountability.
* Promotes a team environment that values, supports and encourages differences.
