The University of Salford Finance department is looking for a Payroll Officer to join the team. This post is based within the Payroll Section and the post holder will supervise and co-ordinate the production of several monthly payrolls. The post holder must ensure the quality and accuracy of all data input to the payroll system, using their initiative to solve problems and make decisions arising from and concerning the day to day processing of the payrolls. Key Responsibilities Supervise the day to day operational administration of the payrolls. Provide a first-line, specialist advisory and information service for payroll, providing support and guidance on internal procedures and HM Revenue and Customs legislation, resolving problems with interpretation and application. Responsible for the timely and accurate production and issue of payslips, P45 forms, P60 certificates and other employee related documents. Identify opportunities for system developments and assist in the implementation of new systems and system development. Review and process all incoming information from a variety of internal and external sources, ensuring all relevant checks are carried out in accordance with the Universitys financial regulations and audit requirements. Responsible for the timely import of PAYE information for all payrolls, including the start of tax tear process for new tax code notices. The Finance Department is entrusted with the overall financial management of the institution and its subsidiaries. Comprising a team of over 80 staff members, the department delivers a wide range of financial services to the University, including payroll, financial systems, management and financial accounting, and a travel office. Operating under a devolved system of planning and budgeting, the Finance team collaborates closely with Academic Units and Professional Services to maximise opportunities and ensure financial sustainability.
