Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and skilled 7.5-tonne driver to join our team delivering palletised goods throughout the West Midlands. The successful candidate undertakes multi-drop deliveries, often completing up to 20 drops per day, ensuring safe and timely distribution to our customers. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to operate equipment such as pump trucks and tail lifts confidently.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Perform multi-drop deliveries accurately and efficiently, managing up to 20 drops daily within the designated area
* Operate pump trucks and tail lifts safely to load and unload palletised goods
* Secure loads using ratchet strapping to ensure safe transit
* Complete all necessary paperwork accurately, including delivery notes and tachograph records
* Maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the vehicle
* Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies
* Communicate clearly and professionally with customers during deliveries
* Report any vehicle defects or incidents promptly to the management team
Required Qualifications
* Valid Category C1 driving licence
* Current Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card
* Valid digital tachograph card
Education and Experience
* Previous experience driving 7.5-tonne vehicles in a logistics or distribution environment
* Experience with multi-drop delivery routes is essential
* Familiarity with operating loading equipment such as pump trucks and tail lifts
Knowledge and Skills
* Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best driving practises
* Competence in load securing techniques, including the use of ratchet straps
* Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules
* Ability to work independently and maintain a professional attitude at all times
* Basic numeracy and literacy skills to complete delivery documentation accurately
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working within a haulage company specialising in palletised deliveries
* Familiarity with the West Midlands area and local delivery routes
Working Conditions
* This role involves driving for extended periods, often requiring early starts and punctuality
* Physical activity includes loading and unloading pallets using manual handling equipment
* Work is primarily outdoors and may be subject to varying weather conditions
* Adherence to all health and safety legislation is mandatory
