Main duties of the job

This role supports the qualified nursing staff and the wider multi‑disciplinary team in the delivery of direct patient care and supporting patients in maintaining their health and wellbeing. Senior Health Care Assistants are responsible for providing personal and clinical care, undertaking clinical observations and other clinical and therapeutic interventions as delegated by the registered practitioner and in accordance with existing competencies.

* Support band 5 and band 6 nurses, medics, dietitians, SALT and other senior HCSWs.
* Provide personal and clinical care, undertake clinical observations and other clinical and therapeutic interventions.
* Monitor the physical and mental health and well‑being of individuals in their care.
* Undertake wound management, tissue viability, infection control and other relevant clinical skills.
* Work 24/7 care on a two‑shift system, days, nights on a rotational basis, including weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications

* Training in NG tube feeding and support to develop further clinical skills such as wound management and tissue viability.
* Knowledge of infection control and other relevant clinical competencies.
* Experience in providing patient‑led care in an eating disorders setting.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and career progression.
