Job Title: Finance Assistant

Department: Finance

Reports to: Head of Finance

Responsible for: No direct reports

Salary: £30,000 (plus study support)

Closing Date: 26/08/2025

With community work spanning three decades, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has established itself as a pioneering organization for the local community. It uses the power of sport to educate, motivate, and inspire people from all walks of life. The Trust offers programs in education, health, sports participation, and community engagement, and has won the 'Football League Community Club of the Year' award four times. It employs over 100 staff and is expanding following its partnership in the redevelopment of Gunnersbury Park and its move to new premises near Kew Bridge in 2021.

General Trust Accountabilities

* Ensure compliance with policies, legal, and ethical standards
* Maintain professional relationships and confidentiality
* Maintain flexibility in work approach


Main Purpose of Job


Responsibilities


Financial Administration

* Process invoices, receipts, and expense claims using accounting software
* Maintain accurate records of financial transactions
* Assist with bank reconciliations and management accounts


Project Support

* Track project budgets and expenditure
* Assist with financial planning for community initiatives


Administrative Duties

* Provide support to the finance team and coordinate audits
* Support VAT return processes and data protection compliance


Relationships

Internal: Head of Finance, Finance Manager, Trust employees, Brentford FC finance team

External: External auditors, tax advisors, bank contacts


Minimum Requirements

* At least 2 years' experience in finance or accounting
* Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office


Desirable

* Knowledge of VAT and grant funding
* Experience in charity or sports sectors
* Accounting qualifications or progress towards qualification


Personal Qualities

* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Numerical and analytical skills
* Good communication skills
* Ability to work independently and manage priorities
* Understanding of basic accounting principles
* Confidentiality and data security commitment
