We are seeking a compassionate leader to motivate and inspire our workforce during the final phase of transformation for health visiting and school nursing services. The successful candidate will oversee integrated health visiting and nursing teams, serving as the locality-based and subject lead for school-age children.
Role Overview
This position is crucial for delivering Integrated Children’s Health Services within the Surgery, Women & Children’s Directorate. The post involves working closely with the Divisional Nurse & AHP Director, Children and Young People, and collaborating with internal stakeholders such as Named Nurses Safeguarding & Cared for Children, pathway leads, and Pediatric Matron to provide leadership, management, and integration of children’s universal services.
The post holder will need to develop and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, including service users and carers. Visibility to front-line staff is essential.
The department plays a key role in the wider inter-agency system for children and families and is fundamental to improving health outcomes for all children in the borough.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure locality services are delivered professionally and safely, in accordance with local and national policies, including Care Quality Commission standards.
2. Provide management and leadership to staff, ensuring policy compliance.
3. Manage capacity and demand effectively to meet activity levels aligned with the children’s services performance plan.
4. Develop and implement outcome measures within the service areas.
5. Manage delegated budgets and resources in line with financial instructions.
6. Embed the requirements of the SEND agenda within all teams.
7. Embed the requirements of the HCP agenda within all teams.
8. Develop and maintain good working relationships with neighbourhood colleagues.
