What is the job role?
You will be a part of a busy multidisciplinary team that deals with a variety of environmental and pollution issues throughout the city.
You will be expected to:
1. Assess the potential environmental impacts of planning and premises licence applications
2. Investigate complaints of statutory nuisance arising on commercial premises, such as noise, odour, and bonfires taking enforcement action where necessary
3. Process applications for and issue environmental permits and undertake inspections of permitted processes
4. Assist with our air quality monitoring programme and other environmental monitoring
5. Respond to requests for environmental information
This role is a career progression post from a Grade 7 to a Grade 8 Principal position. You will need to be able to demonstrate that you meet the criteria listed on page 10 of the G7 job description attached to progress to the principal role.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an excellent communicator with the appropriate technical knowledge, preferably with some demonstrable enforcement experience of a statutory or environmental nature; however, full training is available for the right candidate.
You must be able to work using your own initiative, as well as working as part of a larger team and with partner organisations, to demonstrate a One Coventry ethos and a supportive working environment. If this is you, then come and join us and be part of the team.
A degree or diploma in environmental health is required for this post. We would welcome applications from candidates holding the Postgraduate Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control or the IOA Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement.
