Job Summary
The Clinical Safety Officer will provide expert clinical advice / specialist support to the Welsh Ambulance Service University NHS Trust (WAST), on issues relating to clinical risk management / patient safety assessment associated with the board's Digital, Data and Technology services for procurement, design & development, implementation of third-party systems and operational life cycle.
Main duties
The individual will support the development, integration and embedding of the Trust's clinical assurance process which focuses on the patient safety assessment of Trust's digital, data and technology services at the design, development and final testing phases before they are handed over to the service for operational use. The post holder will be pro-active in deploying and motivating the Trust and external clinical, technical and project staff to commit time and effort to the risk management/risk assessment process so that Trust's products can be signed off as fit for use in real operational and clinical environments. The individual will also support the development, integration and embedding of the Trust's clinical assurance process which focuses on the patient safety assessment of digital, data and technology services in the operational phase of the life cycle. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential Qualifications and Knowledge
* Registered Clinician
* Master's degree or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience
* Leadership or Management qualification

Experience

* Substantial NHS experience working at a senior level in a risk management related role
* Experience in multi-agency liaison and collaborative & partnership working
* HR issues such as Recruitment & Retention, Appraisal, Performance Management, Sickness absence, Annual leave etc
Desirable
* Experience undertaking complex investigations including root cause analysis
* Experience in healthcare information technology
* Experience contributing to policy, planning & service development
Skills and Attributes
* Highly developed specialist knowledge of the National Clinical Risk agenda
