Working Pattern:
Tuesday–Thursday on site, with additional days based on business need. Flexibility is available, including reduced weeks where business needs allow.
We would consider a 9-day fortnight or a 4-day week for the right candidate.
Overview
Cheshire East Council is seeking an experienced Director of People to join on an interim basis and provide senior leadership across HR and Organisational Development during a period of transformation.
The current substantive role combines People and Customer Experience. To ensure dedicated focus on HR and OD priorities, Customer Experience will be temporarily managed elsewhere, allowing this role to concentrate fully on the People agenda.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct a rapid review of all HR policies, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with organisational priorities
* Lead and support service redesign and restructuring programmes
* Oversee and contribute to a Pay and Grading review
* Assess People Services resource requirements to enable corporate transformation and continuous improvement
* Review recruitment and retention challenges, including the effectiveness of the shared services People offer
* Drive delivery of the People Strategy, using the latest Staff Survey results as baseline evidence
About You
You will be a senior HR leader with significant experience operating at Director level within the public sector or a complex organisation, with a strong track record in:
* Strategic HR leadership and organisational development
* Workforce transformation and change management
* Pay, grading, and policy review
* Engaging with senior stakeholders and elected members
