Āheinga | The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Practice Support Registered Nurse to partner with clinics across the Waikato region. This is a dynamic, relationship-driven role supporting hauora Māori providers, marae-based clinics, and both rural and urban practices.
Ideal for Registered Nurses with experience within general practice settings in Aotearoa.
Use your skills to support clinics with a focus on high-needs whanau
Strengthen clinical performance and health equity across diverse practice settings
Provide tailored clinical mentorship and advice to nursing teams
Collaborate with services to meet key health targets and quality standards
Get involved in service development and innovation projects
Full-time role (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday

Assist clinics in reaching national and regional health goals
Deliver clinical leadership and mentoring across a range of healthcare settings
Foster strong working relationships with providers and internal teams
Use PHO data insights to guide activity in high-needs areas
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and working groups
Uphold and model culturally safe and clinically sound practice
Registered Nurse with a current APC (NZ Nursing Council)
At least 3 years’ experience in primary health care (preferably general practice)
Authorised Vaccinator and Certified Cervical Smear Taker
Skilled in managing long-term conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular risk
Experience working alongside Māori and high-needs communities
Excellent communicator with strong mentoring and collaboration skills
Full, clean driver’s licence – travel throughout Waikato is a key part of this role
