Our client is seeking an Industrial Robotics R&D Engineer to join them on a contract basis until November 2026. You will be a fundamental part of the Robotics and Automation function but will also work and collaborate with a transversal team across functions to design and develop prototypes & demonstrators as well as to industrialize products. Role : Industrial Robotics R&D Engineer Location : Broughton, Flintshire - fully onsite Hours : 35 per week Clearance : BPSS required before starting Hourly Rate : Up to £47 per hour via umbrella, inside IR35 depending on experience What you'll be doing: Develop and analyze robotic concept solutions. Perform complex simulations on loads, stress, fatigue and manufacturability. Perform GD&T analysis to design, build and test prototypes. Design mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic 2D and 3D models. Generating manufacturing drawings, BOMs and other documentations. Develop tests, perform failure analysis, and solution validation for product development. Contribute to the functional analysis and the collaborative definition of the requirement specification. Design systems under safety and quality standards for in-house CE Mark certification. Validate and ensure the advanced maintenance of the deployed systems. Build a strong technical expertise to steer development and integration of robotic technologies in aerospace. Requirements: Master Science and/or PhD in Controls, Mechatronics, Robotics, or other algorithmic-centric discipline or related field or equivalent a hands-on Mechanical Engineer, Application Engineer or Robotics Engineer experience, preferably in the industry. Hands-on experience in robotics / actuated systems control. Solid knowledge in Dynamics and Kinematics. Demonstrated influence in selection of sensors and actuators Successful experience of integration of an industrial robotic solution used in production Familiar with robot simulation software (e.g. KUKA.Sim, RoboGuide, Visual Components, DELMIA, RoboStudio, Matlab/Simulink, RoboDK). High level of proficiency in CAD software, such as CATIA or 3DX. Good at practical things, such as making prototyping parts, assembling components, etc. Superb analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to develop and implement complex methods, learn and apply way of working, tools and frameworks. Strong communication skills, a good team player, but also capable of solving problems independently. A can-do attitude to balance quality and speed: from quick proof-of-concept work, to high quality design.
