What you will be doing
as a Property Accountant
1. Preparation of annual and interim consolidated financial statements for the main trading entity (TWUL) to a FTSE 100 standard and group entities.
2. Developing best practice processes and procedures around our external reporting in both a statutory and regulatory environment.
3. Review and implementation of new accounting pronouncements and other corporate reporting developments affecting Thames Water.
4. Producing key deliverables for submission to the Audit Committee and Board at various stages during the year.
5. Producing accounting papers documenting our key management judgements, including lease standards.
6. Being a key contact for the external audit team at year-end, half-year and other times during the year.
7. Providing ad hoc technical accounting advice to other areas of finance and the wider business, and assisting in delivering the annual finance training.
8. Day-to-day management of main and subsidiary companies, including processing of journals and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations; budgeting and forecasting; and preparation of the statutory accounts.
9. Ensuring the highest levels of data integrity are upheld, Group accounting policies are consistently applied, and adherence to deadlines is maintained.
10. Involvement in several ad hoc projects (such as liquidations, new company set-up, control reviews, system reviews) as required by the business.
What should you bring to the role?
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is:
11. You should be a qualified chartered accountant. (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
12. Possess a good level of experience with IFRS 16.
13. Strong Excel skills, SAP and HFM would be a bonus.
14. Solid budget and forecast experience.
15. Previous experience in accounting judgment preparations is desirable.

16. Competitive salary of £52,000 - £62,000 per annum, depending on experience.
