The Opportunity
:
Our client, a leading EPC contractor, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a major Energy from Waste construction project in Thurrock, Essex. This is a site-based contract position offering an initial 12-month engagement with the potential for extension based on project requirement

The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management of significant civil engineering and structural building packages throughout the construction phase, ensuring robust cost control, contract administration, and commercial reporti
ng.
Key Responsibilit
* ies:
Commercial management of civil engineering and structural building work pack
* ages.Administration of subcontract agreements, including change management and contractual compli
* ance.Preparation, assessment, and agreement of subcontract valuations and paym
* ents.Management and valuation of variations, compensation events, and change or
* ders.Monitoring project costs, forecasts, and budgets to ensure commercial performance targets are achi
* eved.Preparation of cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and commercial dashboards for project leader
* ship.Evaluation and negotiation of subcontractor claims and final acco
* unts.Support procurement activities, including tender evaluations and commercial assessm
* ents.Liaise closely with project managers, engineers, planners, and procurement teams to ensure effective commercial deli
* very.Identify commercial risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to mitigate expo
* sure.Ensure all commercial activities are undertaken in accordance with contractual obligations and company proced
ures.
Candidate Require
* ments:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within major construction, infrastructure, industrial, power generation, or energy pr
* ojects.Strong experience managing civil engineering and structural building packages o
* f work.Previous experience working for an EPC contractor, principal contractor, or major construction cont
* ractor.Sound knowledge of contract administration, commercial management, and change control pro
* cesses.Experience managing subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account sett
* lement.Strong understanding of NEC and/or FIDIC forms of co
* ntract.Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation
* skills.Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team on a complex construction pro
* gramme.Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline pre
* ferred.Membership of RICS, CIOB, or similar professional body is advantageous but not ess
ential.
Desirable Exp
* erience:
Previous Energy from Waste, power generation, waste management, industrial process plant, or heavy infrastructure project ex
* perience.Experience working on projects valued in excess of £100
* million.Familiarity with reinforced concrete structures, steel-framed buildings, earthworks, foundations, and associated civils
packages.
