About The Business Division – The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland's water and wastewater challenges. We work at the forefront of ensuring safe water supplies for future generations, preventing urban flooding, and improving the health of rivers and coastal environments. Our multidisciplinary teams provide a wide range of services throughout the full project life cycle, from advisory services and feasibility studies to outline and detailed design.
Overview Of The Role
The Asset Management and Infrastructure Planning team is one of five sub‑sectors within our Water Utilities Division, employing around 350 people across the UK. We work in the water sector and with other infrastructure providers internationally on the following workstream areas:
* Technical assurance of statutory regulatory submissions such as annual performance reporting, business cases, business plans, long‑term strategic plans, operational performance, and deliverables
* Water resource investment planning
* Wastewater and bioresources investment planning
* Strategic asset management and business planning
* Carbon and net‑zero appraisal and strategic planning
* Integrated systems management
* Data analytics and decision‑support tools
* Contract appraisal (NEC, PPP)
We have an exciting opportunity in our Technical Assurance workstream for a senior role. As a Senior Professional for Assurance, you will be at the heart of our assurance delivery for clients, with contributions to our delivery capability. You will report directly to the Workstream Lead, be an important part of the Assurance Team, and collaborate across the wider asset management practice community.
Candidate Specification
Essential
* Regulatory technical assurance experience linked to the water industry's AMP cycles
* Academic and professional qualifications, with relevant skills and experience
* Background in engineering, accounting/economics, asset management, auditing, and technical assurance of statutory regulatory submissions
* Skills in asset‑management ISO standards, technical audits, assessment of regulatory requirements and their impact on service outputs, service metrics, performance commitments, and associated base and enhancement schemes
* Experience delivering technical assurance work within the constraints of regulatory submission timescales
* Membership of a professional body and/or water regulatory networks
* Capability to present assurance findings clearly and understandably through formal and informal presentations and reports
* Ability to adapt quickly and proactively to emerging opportunities and risks
* Willingness to undertake assignments throughout the UK and occasional short international visits
