SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary (Redditch) January 2026 Start ABC Teachers is seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join a dynamic Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Redditch. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support young people who may have experienced exclusion, trauma, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them re-engage with education and build brighter futures. You will be working closely with pupils aged 11–16 (Key Stages 3–4), supporting their academic progress while promoting positive social and emotional development. About the Role You will play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment. You will build trusted relationships and help pupils overcome barriers to learning through consistent, calm, and trauma-informed support. Key responsibilities include: Supporting learners aged 11–16 who may present with challenging behaviour or complex emotional needs Supporting de-escalation using restorative and therapeutic approaches Promoting emotional regulation, confidence, and self-esteem in a nurturing environment Working closely with pastoral teams, counsellors, and external agencies to ensure holistic support About the School The PRU is a secondary alternative provision in Redditch, offering a flexible and supportive educational setting for pupils who find mainstream education challenging.
