Overview
Are you an enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in supporting pupils? We are looking for Teaching Assistants to join our school. We provide a supportive and inclusive environment aimed at raising standards and providing a rich and enjoyable curriculum, where every child is encouraged to be safe, caring and ready to learn. The successful candidates will need a wide range of skills to support our children's needs and will have a genuine desire to ensure children reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
* Support pupils to ensure they reach their full potential and participate in a safe, caring and ready-to-learn environment.
* Contribute to delivering a rich and enjoyable curriculum within an inclusive setting.
* Work as part of a team to support the needs of pupils across the school.
Hours, Pay and Term
We have full-time positions of 30 hours per week (6 hours per day, Monday–Friday) and part-time positions of 15 hours per week (3 hours on Wednesday pm and 6 hours per day Thursday and Friday). Please indicate on your application form which role you are interested in.
The pay scale is KSA at £24,513 FTE which equates to approximately £16,880 per annum pro rata for the 30 hour role and approximately £8,440 for the 15 hour role. The role is for 38 weeks per year (term-time only).
Qualifications and Selection
* A good standard of general education; GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above are desirable.
* A formal 30 minute interview will take place with a panel comprising members of the Leadership Team. Candidates will be required to participate in a 15-minute activity with a small group of pupils.
* Verification of qualifications will be required before employment can commence; do not declare any qualifications unless you can produce the original certificate.

* It is an offence to apply for this role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

All new employees, including those with previous local government service, shall be subject to a 6-month probationary period.
Safeguarding and Wellbeing
Garlinge Primary School and Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our Safeguarding Policy is available on the school website. Shortlisted candidates will be subject to online checks following Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025. Interviewees will also be asked questions relating to the safeguarding of children. We are also committed to championing staff wellbeing and all employees can access free counselling, occupational health support and supervision sessions.
