Information Analyst, Band 5 x2

There are two full-time vacancies available. One supporting the Medicine Division, and one supporting the Diagnostics and Specialties Division.

During the past couple of years, which have been some of the most important and challenging for healthcare, our BI team have worked to aid the trust in making critical decisions while supporting patient flow and quality of care. This included using advanced forecasting models to predict COVID admissions, creating real time operational dashboards, and gaining access to new data flows. Gloucestershire Hospitals BI Team has gained national recognition, winning the Health Tech Newspaper Award for Best Use of Data 2020 and AphAs Analytical Team of the Year.

Main duties of the job

These roles are based within the Business Intelligence Unit at Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust. The ideal candidates will have strong analytical capabilities, along with the ability to effectively communicate and present complex information to a range of different stakeholders. The candidate will need to be able to work under pressure and be able to prioritise their own workload when there are conflicting deadlines.

We are therefore looking for analysts who has a drive and passion for delivering an exemplar BI service. An individual who is both forward thinking and solutions orientated.

The Business Intelligence team plays a vital role in supporting the clinical divisions within the Trust by delivering comprehensive analysis and expert insights. Through operational intelligence, benchmarking activities, and strategic support for the Trust's savings plans, the team ensures data-driven decision-making that enhances efficiency and effectiveness across the organisation. Job responsibilities

The post holder primarily has responsibility for the provision of information to both the organisation and our external stakeholders.

This involves working closely with clinicians and senior managers within the hospital to understand their requirements, developing reporting tools and providing intelligence to enable services to make better informed decisions. The post holder will need to be engaging, forward thinking, and work with a positive attitude in order to build great working relationships with our customers to improve patient care.

The post holder will also be responsible for interrogating large volumes of complex data, and use a variety of software and analytical methods to turn this data into intelligence.

The post holder is expected to highlight any areas of concern with regard to data quality and accuracy and undertake appropriate action as required. The post holder will work as part of a team of analysts, but will be required to work independently at times and manage their own workload. They will also need to take a proactive approach with regard to prioritising and negotiating deadlines. Hybrid working arrangements accessible after a qualifying period.

Additional working pattern details: Hybrid work - 2-3 days per week on site

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Bachelor Degree or equivalent educational level
* Intermediate SQL


Experience

* Ability and experenice to present information with a high level of accuracy to a wide range of audiences both verbally and electronically (e.g. charts graphs, reports, scorecards, tables, dashboards etc.)
* An analytical mindset and ability to explain trends and themes in data.
* Good understanding of the importance of data quality. Attention to detail.
* Ability to challenge and manage user expectations
* The ability to exercise own initiative and work independently to achieve objectives and deadlines.


Knowledge & Skills

* Intermediate knowledge and highly skilled in the use of MS Excel.
* Basic knowledge and understanding of NHS Data Dictionary including datasets, data standards and data modelling concepts
* Excellent problem solving skills to the development of advanced analytical methodologies.
* Good understanding of patient pathways
