Sessional Worker - Job Description
Role Overview
As a Sessional Worker, you will support children, young people, and families across a range of settings. Working as part of a wider service, you will help individuals access opportunities, build resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.
This is a flexible role offering varied and meaningful work with individuals who may have complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
You may be involved in a variety of activities, including:
1. Providing practical and emotional support to children and young people
2. Supporting and supervising young people involved in community-based programmes
3. Acting as an Appropriate Adult for young people in police settings (training provided where required)
4. Helping young people engage with education, training, employment and key services (e.g. housing, benefits, appointments)
5. Encouraging participation in positive activities such as leisure, cultural and sporting opportunities
6. Supporting early intervention and prevention initiatives
7. Working with young people transitioning from care into independence
8. Supporting parents and carers to develop confidence and effective parenting approaches
9. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in line with organisational requirements

16. Has good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy

21. Is reliable and able to take initiative
22. Is open to working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

25. Has an understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion

28. Hours: Flexible / sessional (including evenings and weekends)
