This is a practical, workshop-based role (around 80% hands-on) not a classroom-only job. Youll deliver training in a specialist environment focused on substation fitting, electrical systems and infrastructure, helping develop the next generation of engineers.
Key responsibilities:
* Deliver hands-on training in mechanical and electrical fitting
* Work with switchgear, cabling, and substation equipment
* Teach safe working practices in line with industry standards
* Support learners through NVQ / Diploma / technical qualifications
* Assess competency and provide structured feedback
* Maintain training equipment and workshop spaces
* Ensure strict adherence to health & safety regulations
We are keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:
* Background as a Mechanical Fitter, Electrical Fitter, Technician or similar
* Experience in heavy industry, utilities, manufacturing, or ex-forces engineering
* Minimum 5 years hands-on experience
* City & Guilds Level 2 (or equivalent)
* Physically fit (role involves ladders, scaffolding and switchgear work)
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable (not essential training provided):
* Experience in HV/LV or power distribution
* Previous training, coaching or mentoring experience
* Assessing or teaching qualifications (A1, D32/33, PTLLS etc.)
* Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH / NEBOSH)

Working Hours
