Responsibilities
* Providing strategic and concoitional and technical leadership across the engineering portfolio, ensuring the successful delivery of large and complex capital projects within the UK power and energy infrastructure sector.
* Engineering governance, technical assurance, safety in design, resource management, and stakeholder engagement across all projects.
* Ensuring appropriate and competent resources to design projects.
* Identifying, managing, and mitigating engineering, quality, and delivery risk.
* Providing technical leadership and governance, ensuring project designs comply with Engineering Works Information (EWI), applicable standards, and client requirements.
* Scheduling and chairing design reviews, design assurance activities, and Design Authority Reviews.
* Leading project coordination activities, including chairing meetings with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders (including remote design office).
* Organising and overseeing technical workshops and safety reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP and HAZCON.
* Promoting and managing safety across the project portfolio, including Safety in Design, CDM Regulations, and Principal Designer (PD) duties.
* Reviewing construction methodologies, RAMS, and safety시면 document injection for safe commissioning and operational readiness.
* Providing direct line management and oversight of Engineering Managers and Project Engineers.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent professional experience.
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience delivering major infrastructure and capital projects, including FACTS projects (132kV, 275kV, 400kV or 500kV HVDC) within transmission & distribution networks.
* In‑depth understanding of applicable UK legislation and regulatory requirements (CDM Regulations, ESQCR, asset/project governance frameworks).
* Strong grounding in NEC contracts.
* Full UK driving licence with the possibility of UK and overseas travel.
