Medical Laboratory Assistant (Band 2)
Responsibilities
* Receive and check specimen samples for Medical Biochemistry, Immunology, and Haematology services.
* Enter patient and sample details into the Laboratory Information System.
* Perform pre‑analytical procedures including barcode specimen handling, centrifugation, and freezing.
* Answer general telephone inquiries.
* Complete additional pre‑, intra‑, and post‑analytical duties as required.
* Work 24/7 shift pattern, including unsocial hours, after training.
* Report any discrepancies in labelling to supervisor.
* Travel between UHB sites (University Hospital Llandough or University Hospital of Wales) as required.
* Speak Welsh is desirable, but applicants must be Welsh or English speakers.
