Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Are you an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge in a dynamic, commercially focused environment? We're working with a well-established business seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional to join their growing commercial team.
The Role
As an Assistant QS, you'll play a key role in maintaining commercial control across multiple contracts. You'll manage payment applications, oversee contract administration, liaise with clients, and support the implementation of a new pay and bill system.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and manage payment applications, ensuring accuracy across timesheets and rates
Issue interim valuations (invoices/applications) in line with contract requirements
Reconcile payment applications with internal ledgers, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Monitor payment progress, notices, certificates, and receipts in collaboration with the credit control team
Set up new jobs and update trades/rates in internal systems
Raise manual invoices and manage sales ledger exports
Administer contracts, including rate changes and volume rebates
Liaise with clients to ensure timely and accurate payments
Attend project meetings and contribute to commercial reporting
Collaborate with internal teams: Commercial, Finance, Payroll, and Operations
Provide cover for other commercial assistants when needed
Working Hours & Location
Monday to Thursday: 8:30am - 5:30pm
Friday: 8:30am - 4:00pm
Hybrid Working: 4 days in-office, 1 day from home
Location: Office-based, approx. 15 mins by bus from the local station
Parking: Available - ideal for drivers
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in commercial administration, ideally within recruitment or construction
Strong ability to manage multiple contracts and communicate confidently with clients
Comfortable working with finance systems and supporting process improvements
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
