Position
The ED team at Royal Blackburn is looking to recruit Band 5 Paediatric staff nurses to join our busy and ever expanding team.
Overview
We are a very busy department, covering a very diverse population, and we are also a major trauma unit. We have a separate Paediatric ED. The Emergency Department footprint is currently expanding and includes the Paediatric ED. It is supported by a purpose-built helipad on site, 2 Urgent Treatment Centres that are part of the Emergency Department, a Minor Injuries Unit located at Accrington Acorn Centre, and staff facilities such as a new staff room, education room, wellbeing retreat, and staff changing area with shower.
Responsibilities
* Caring for children and young people
* Initial and secondary assessment of patients
* Treatment of minor/major illness and injury/trauma and Resus patients
* Listening to the Voice of the Child
* Safeguarding of children and young people
Team Structure
We have a team of ENP’s, ACP’s and Practice Educators, supported by a diverse and innovative senior nursing team. The department welcomes new members of staff and has an open and friendly culture which is strongly supportive of nursing development and expansion of skills.
Qualifications
You must be a registered NMCPaediatric Nurse to apply. You may also be asked to be flexible and support your colleagues in all areas of the Emergency Department Footprint, ED majors, Resus, UTC, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills further within the department with support from our Practice Educator Team.
Support
You will have a suitable period of supernumerary in which you will be supported by a mentor.
