Role Description
This is a full-time (45 hour), on-site role for a Sous Chef at Cary Arms & Spa in Torquay, Devon. The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring food preparation and presentation meet the highest standards. Responsibilities include managing food inventory, maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring health and safety standards are upheld. The role also involves contributing to menu development and maintaining the quality of dishes served to align with the standards of an award-winning dining experience. You'll take charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
Qualifications
* Proficiency in food preparation, presentation, and kitchen operations
* Experience in inventory management, quality control, and team supervision
* Knowledge of health, hygiene, and safety regulations within a professional kitchen environment
* Skills in menu development and creative culinary techniques
* Strong organisational and communication abilities
* A culinary qualification or equivalent experience is essential
* Previous experience in a high-end or award-winning restaurant setting is an advantage
* A passion for creating exceptional dining experiences and working collaboratively

* £34,000 pa
* 20 days annual leave rising to 23, plus 8 days for bank holidays
