Job Description
We require a Clerical Officer to provide admin / clerical support within the Health Records Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
It will be your responsibility to work within the DHRS team, covering A&E at VHK and occasionally at MIU, QMH.
Working in A&E and MIU, you will provide front line service to patients arriving at each department, recording patient attendance and admissions via Trakcare. You should be confident in dealing with anxious and upset patients / relatives, showing empathy and delivering professional customer service.
Administrative tasks include running reports, updating data accurately, and preparing/scanning medical casenotes / ED cards, uploading to the clinical portal.
Training within NHS Fife Switchboard may be provided to meet service needs. The role requires excellent communication skills, both written and oral, involving handling calls from internal and external callers, responding to pager requests, emergency calls, monitoring alarms, and providing telephony support to NHS staff and the public.
Adhoc duties may be assigned by Health Records Supervisors to ensure efficiency across the 24/7 Inpatient and Emergency team.
An essential requirement is a high level of accuracy and attention to detail due to data uploads to a live clinical system.
Relevant admin / clerical experience is necessary, along with the ability to prioritize and manage workload in a busy environment. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Educational requirements include Standard Grade (or equivalent) with passes in English and Arithmetic. Good keyboard / typing skills, organizational and listening skills, and a flexible working approach are essential. A certain level of English language competency and communication skills are required to perform this role safely and effectively.

The salary is pro rata for part-time hours.
